Love?

Hello Friday! There are a lot of things that I would love to write yet I am in the process of organizing my thoughts. Hihi. I checked my Facebook messenger a while ago and one of my students sent me this wonderful word. This is actually one of the things why I love being in the academe, I learn/relearn a lot from the kids.

These are the many faces of "LOVE". Many view it as an emotion.Others say it is a decision prompted by the "in spite of" and not by the "because of ". Everything done and said was recorded in eternity and can never be obliterated.Because you believed and stood by it.

But what is love really? Where did it emanate? A figment of man's imagination perhaps'? It is actually a person. So, who is LOVE? GOD is Love (I John 4:8- Check your Bibles Please!) and since He dwells in each of us, we embody his essence.
We yield to the pain of not getting any love in return. We grieve, reminisce the happiness of days gone by, we ponder on what went wrong. Yet we are strengthened by the thought that, for a moment, we became selfless. We bear this in our inner frame and realize the value of sacrifice. Thus, we extend God to people - regardless of race or creed. And yes, we choose to do so or not at all.
"Love is very patient, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices when truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him" (I Corinthians 13:4-7; Living Bible Version)

The truth is, it is so easy to love when people and circumstances are favorable to us. But as Luke 6:32 says "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them." Gaaaaaaah. Sometimes I retort "Lord, how can I love someone who is hkjhkhk,h? How can I love someone who caused so much pain to me, my friends and family? How can I love when things are just so bgjsfkjhgfkjgakfjh?" But then His Word overwhelms and rebukes me, I am difficult to love, I caused pain to others, I disobey and always hurt Him. Yet He still loves me. He let His only Son died on the cross as penalty for the countless of mistakes and sins that I have done. Now, is there such greater love like that? None, I believe.

Things to ponder:
If we know LOVE Himself? Are we spreading this love to the people around us? Are we grace-giving? Are we seeking for the welfare of others than ourselves? Are we thriving to love? The love that is not of the world but a love from God above.
